Building work at the brand-new Nottingham College City Hub has now been completed with the help of Essential Projects and bespoke steel balustrades.

The £58.5m campus sits in the heart of Nottingham City Centre with completing vistas of the surrounding Lace Market.

The building totals six storeys and offers more than 15,000 sqm of internal space. Within the building there is now a theatre, a student refectory, a learning resource centre, a commercially operating training restaurant, an employer hub offering tenancy to local businesses, new kitchens, new science labs, new acting and dance studios, modern classrooms, breakout and communal space.

The £58.5m City Hub development is a partnership effort, receiving a £30m grant from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership and additional funding support from the City Council.

As part of the redevelopment, Essential Projects was contracted by Arc Business Interiors to install nearly 240 metres of bespoke steel balustrade and help comply with Part K building legislation.

The steel balustrade accompanied by an oak handrail has been installed on six storeys of the campus building to all areas of walkways and staircases where there is a risk of students and staff falling from great heights.

Commenting on the fitout, Essential Projects, Managing Director said “The new Nottingham College City Hub will provide a much needed facility to allow our young people to continue with their education. I’m delighted that the metalwork we have installed will not only keep them safe but also provide a modern learning environment for which to continue their studies.
