Essential Projects has recently completed the installation of bespoke architectural metalwork at a newly redeveloped Morrisons Supermarket in Manchester.
Located in the city centre, the retail giants have launched a new-model store designed to position itself as a fresh-cooked meal provider as well as a food retailer. The initiative will create 50 new chefs and front of house roles.
The ‘Market Kitchen’ initiative has been designed to provide customers with an opportunity to have their breakfast, lunch or evening meal freshly made-to-order by a chef, at the same time as completing their weekly or monthly shopping.
Customers will also have the opportunity order the fresh prepped dishes via the Deliveroo app or website.
As part of the store development to install the new Market Kitchen, Essential Projects was contracted by RG Group to manufacture and install a number of bespoke architectural metalwork products.
In order to meet food hygiene requirements, Essential Projects manufactured a significant amount of the steel cladding that was to be installed in the kitchen.
After careful consideration it was agreed that 1.6mm thick stainless steel would be the best material from which to fabricate the cladding due to its anti-corrosive properties and its ability to be easily cleaned and sterilised.
On behalf of RG Group, Associate – Head of Retail, Matt Sidwell said, “Having worked with Essential Projects on other projects that required the installation of bespoke architectural metalwork products, I knew they’d be able to work to our demanding timescale and cost constraints. They delivered a great service and all the metalwork they provided met strict health and safety and food hygiene standards.”
