Essential Projects involved in new Argos concession outlet in Chesterfield

Essential Projects has been involved in helping Sainsburys to install a new Argos concession outlet in its new superstore in Chesterfield, a market town located north of Derby.

Located on Rother Way, the new superstore opened on the 25 April 2017, on the outskirts of Chesterfield town centre, close to the A61.  The new concession store replaces an existing Argos store which was located Vicar Lane.

Essential ProjectsAfter finalising the £1.4bn takeover of Home Retail Group which previously owned the Argos brand, the supermarket giant has stated it is committed to opening new Argos outlets within 30 of its supermarkets over the next 12 months. This is part of a nationwide strategy to integrate its new acquisition. There are currently 20 Argos concessions in Sainburys supermarkets that have been trading for more than a year.

Sainsbury’s is now the UK’s biggest retailer of non-food, as well as the second biggest grocer, with 195,000 employees and more than 2,000 outlets including supermarkets and Argos stores.

As part of the project to install the new Argos concessions store, Essential Projects manufactured and installed 4m tall base plated hollow section monolithic columns to support other construction and interior fit-out requirements such as partition panelling, low level ceilings and lighting.

The structural steelwork installed has created the framework to enable the Argos concessions store to be by partitioned off with wall displays which make the Argos brand stand out from the rest of the store.

Commenting on the install, Essential Projects, Managing Director, Eliot Saxton said, “This seems to be the start of an exciting new phase for both Sainsburys and Argos. I am very happy with how the project has gone and that structural metalwork we have installed has delivered the brief. Having the Essential Projects name associated with these retail giants shows the we are a trusted contractor, and have the expertise required to provide bespoke metalwork solutions for the retail sector.”
