As one of the UK’s registered providers, Places for People Group, design, build and manage large-scale regeneration projects. The group is made up of more than 20 specialist companies, each working to build over 60,000 affordable and social housing properties throughout England and Scotland.
In 2019, J Tomlinson partnered with Places for People to deliver capital and planned improvement works to homes across the North of England.
The essential solution
As part of the £600k development at Dykewood Drive, Essential Projects was commissioned by J Tomlinson to manufacture, supply and install a number of bespoke architectural products required for each unit on site.
The original units previously incorporated cladding manufactured out of timber. Timber is costly to maintain on a regular basis and as such it was Essential Projects brief to replace all existing panels with bespoke architectural metalwork.
The bespoke metalwork provided included 150m of powder coated steel perforated balustrade panels to accompany the renovated feature staircase and landing areas. In addition to this, Essential Projects manufactured six steel roof screens, glass panelled shower screens, metal cladding and a bin store panel for each of the 30 units.
