Next Plc reopened its store on Cheltenham High Street, a year after closing its door to the general public in order to undergo drastic renovations. The original store only had ground floor retail space and so the refurbishment include the installation of a new mezzanine floor to create a two storey retail unit.
Essential Projects was appointed by the main contractor to install two bespoke feature glass staircases to enable customers to access the upper floor shopping level.
The essential solution
Manufactured entirely in-house, at the Essential Projects factory in Bulwell Nottingham, we supplied and installed a 90°and 180°glass staircases, both of which incorporated 1.70m wide treads that were manufactured in accordance with the structural engineers precise specification
Both staircases were finished with 19mm toughened glass panels, and a glass balustrade system incorporating walnut handrail.
Essential Projects was also asked to manufacture a number of bespoke structural steel metalwork items. Steel members were supplied and installed in order for other contractors on site to install the new fire shutter door. A number of steel support pocket sections were also supplied to be fixed to the mezzanine floor edge.
