June 2017Project Brief
As part of renovation works to double the size of 6 bedroom property. Essential Projects was contacted by the owner of a residential property in Southwell to design and manufacture a contemporary feature glass staircase that would be installed in the new atrium in order to provide access to the first floor living areas and master bedroom.
The essential solution
After visiting the site to conduct a thorough survey and take precise measurements, Essential Projects provided 3D visual designs which demonstrated the various styles of staircase that would work best. These options included a straight, faceted or a 90° angled staircase.
It was agreed that a 90° angled glass staircase would retain the contemporary aesthetics desired and it was decided that the feature staircase would be manufactured out of a combination of wood, steel and glass.
The bespoke staircase installed features 21.5mm thick glass balustrade affixed to the mezzanine edge and incorporates 14 solid oak treads. To finish the staircase, satin polished stainless steel handrails were added to provide a clean modern look in keeping with other furniture.
