An office building in Birmingham has officially reopened following a major refurbishment in which Essential Projects helped provide bespoke architectural metalwork.
Located just 9 miles north west of Birmingham City Centre, Vienna House is a Grade A specification, 25,360 sqft modern 3-storey self-contained office building.
The building offers newly refurbished accommodation across two floors with a ground floor reception area with full height atrium. The open plan office space comes with fully raised carpeted floors, suspended ceilings with LED lighting, kitchenette and WC on each floor and will now be offered to lease to new tenants.
The essential solution
As part of the refurbishment, Essential Project was contracted by West 1 Contracts Ltd to install many of the bespoke metalwork elements required. Stainless steel was chosen over more traditional timber materials due to their modern aesthetic and to minimise the ongoing maintenance required.
Principally, Essential Projects manufactured and installed 38 metres of wall mounted stainless steel handrails. These were installed to existing staircases within the building that provides access to the three different levels.
For the office space to comply with Part K building legislation, Essential Projects also supplied and installed various lengths of mild steel spindle style balustrade. These were installed to the various walkways, in order to prevent office workers from falling from great height. The spindle styling was chosen to remain in keeping with other design elements of the office refurbishment.
